Cape Egmont's new rescue boat now boasts a $62,000 all-weather concrete ramp which will enable a quicker launch in emergencies.

The ramp was declared open at the Cape Egmont Boat Club at the weekend following a blessing by Parihaka kaumatua George Mason early on Saturday and a ribbon-cutting ceremony and lunch yesterday.

Race committee chairman Tom Goodin said the new ramp with its deep race and turning bay, was finished in just 11 days.
